International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) Meetings
April 22, 2009 – Lisbon, Portugal
ILZSG will hold meetings of its Industry Advisory Panel and Economic and Environment Committee in Lisbon on the morning of Wednesday April 22. The meetings will present the ILZSG lead and zinc market forecasts for the year ahead, examine the impact of the financial crisis on the industry, and consider a range of economic and environmental issues of importance to the industry.

Joint Study Groups’ Energy/Climate Change Seminar
April 22, 2009 – Lisbon, Portugal
The International Lead and Zinc Study Group, in conjunction with the International Nickel and Copper Study Groups, will hold a Joint Seminar starting at 2.00pm on Wednesday, April 22 focused on the Impact of Energy Issues and Climate Change Policies on the Non-ferrous Metals Industry. The objective of this seminar will be to exchange views on the different approaches being taken on these issues; to compare and contrast the varying impacts and industry responses for the different metals; to share views on the challenges ahead; and to identify what further work the secretariat might usefully undertake in this area to assist member countries.

IZA-FAI Symposium - Zinc in Improving Crop Production and Human Health in India
April 28, 2009, New Delhi, India
A Symposium to discuss available information
on the essentiality and roles of zinc in crop production and human health. The primary focus
will be the importance of zinc in fertilizers for production of higher yield and healthy food for
human consumption in India. Zinc deficiency is the most common micronutrient deficiency
in soils in India that affects seriously adequate crop production and also hinders sufficient
accumulation of zinc in edible parts of food crops. International and local speakers will
address the aspects of zinc deficiency‐related problems in crop
production and human nutrition, and panel discussions will follow.
